CHILDREN’S CHOIR NEWS

·        Don’t forget to register your child if you haven’t already.

·        If you can provide snacks one night, please sign up.

·        TRYOUTS NEXT WEEK – for speaking parts at 5:15 – I have attached a list of the parts that are available.

·        I need volunteers to be small group leaders. It would require coming at 6:00, listening to verses, recording points, giving the children a more structured setting as they arrive, getting to know these children on a relational level, cheering on your group to earn points.  You will be free at 6:30 to attend the church service. Please sign up if you will lead a group.

·        Please pick your children up in the fellowship hall after church.  We will not dismiss them to you unless you have otherwise discussed it with me.

·        Memory verses will be sent home each week with the children.  They can earn points for their small group if they say them to their leader.  I will try to simplify verses for younger children. I made them in large print so you can hang them on your fridge!

·        We are going to try once again to name the children’s choir.  You are more than welcome to help your child submit a name. A prize will be given to the winner!  I will begin taking those next Sunday night.

·        Don’t forget to practice with your CD’s at home or in the car!

I have read the parents letter.

Dear Parents,

It’s that time once again!  Our spring musical is entitled Roamin’ Through Romans, and just as the title suggests, the songs are based on verses from the book of Romans.  It is a very memorable musical that I hope the children will enjoy as much as I do.

Please make sure you get your child registered for children’s choir.  If you come to the fellowship hall before or after church in the next week or two, we can help you take care of that.  Don’t worry it’s not a big deal.  I just need you to fill out an index card.  I still have cards filled out for many of the children.  If you have already filled one out you do not need to do another, unless you have new information for me.

We use a “3 strikes” discipline method in choir which is as follows:

1st strike = no snack, and I or a leader will talk with you

2nd strike = child will be taken out to parent

3rd strike = child will be dismissed from choir for the duration of the musical

Strikes are given for willful disobedience, disrespect and dishonesty.  We do indeed understand they are children, and we want choir to be fun, but of course we need to maintain control.

As with our past musicals, we want to provide a snack for the children at rehearsal, but we need your help in providing that.  If you would be willing to sign up for snacks and/or drinks please sign the sheet in the fellowship hall.

We will be doing small groups again for this musical.  If any of you would be willing to be a small group leader, please let me know ASAP. I would like to start those next week, and will need 6-8 adults to help.

Practices will begin at 6:30, but small groups will begin at 6:10.  We ask that children not be dropped off before that time.  Practice ends when church is over.  Please notice on the practice schedule that closer to the performance we will begin earlier.

A CD and a lyrics sheet is being sent home with your child.  I ask that you help your child practice at home.  It will make our rehearsals even easier, especially if they listen to the upcoming songs for each week.  It’s very difficult for them to remember all the words to the songs if they only hear them on Sunday night.

Thank you so much for allowing your child to be a part of the chidren’s choir.  They are such a blessing to work with.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at 622-0152, or bodacias@gmail.com.

If you sign the last page, and have your child bring it next week, he/she will earn points for his/her small group!!

Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord!

                                                                                                                In Christ Alone,

                                                                                                                Dacia Borton
